In the March 8, 2008 edition of the American Diplomacy, Zbigniew Brzezinski demonstrated once again why the Carter administration was such an absolute failure. Comparing the Cold War anxieties to the present situation completely misses the point. The Soviets never murdered 2000 Americans on our own soil. And if the Carter Administration had stepped up to the plate and crushed the emerging Iranian Revolution in its cradle we might not be having many of the problems we’re having today – or at least one less. And frankly the man has a lot of nerve predicting the decay of our democracy because we’re trying to address actual threats that he ignored. It seems to me great empires such as Rome collapsed when unchecked immigration, welfare and corruption became too great for the state to sustain. Oh and let’s not forget about the Muslim armies of Abu Bakr, who laid the final blow to the Romans.

I could say much more about this speech, but what’s the point.
